I often end up reloading a FILE LIST just to make sure I'm queued with the correct list. (On a busy day I could have a seemingly endless TO DO LIST )

Possibly... the "loaded" FILE LIST name could be shown in the bottom right corner. Of course once the queue changes in any way, if it isn't a new FILE LIST then the status text would... disappear possibly?

I think I could wiggle this in somewhere... Makes sense to do it...

With all the interruptions in a day, you never know if you've got a filelist listed, or have hand-picked files!

Sounds good.

Haha... no problem!

Mike is full of great ideas and comments. I think he is one of a few users who is actually using ALL the features, which is great!

The more feedback I get from people who use Hurricane to it's full potential, the better I can make it for everyone. (Not that I don't want feedback from novices either) It's nice to know I'm not alone in doing things this way (scripting, vbs, lisp etc)

There is a "thing" with fairly specialized software. It takes the users to make it what it is, not just in the features, but also in the support and marketing (word of mouth). I think more users, means more support in the end, The more users that are "excited" about some software that saves them time, the better it is for everyone.

I'm sure not making a living off Hurricane (would be nice!), but it's fun, and keeps me on my toes, and keeps others happy too.

I'm afraid I don't have much to offer in return as far as Steel Details go , but if you guys ever have Fluid Power issues (Hydraulic/Pneumatic/Controls), let me know!

Hopefully, more people will "get" the potential (maybe I just have to have a better FAQ to outline the possibilities?), and eventually, the forum will be a hive of activity, and people can help each other out, not just with Hurricane, but with AutoCAD, or engineering in general.

Regards,
Bill

I'm glad you've become an active member on this list Steve! Every office is different of course but since you are in the same field your bound to have similar needs and equally great ideas.

Hurricane is by far the most versatile program I have ever run into! I can't believe how long I let the demo version sit on my machine...a little intimidating at first, but once I understood how it worked...
Bill's "User-Oriented" approach has truly made this a Mega Utility. It's all about the users...in a sense... EVERY good software package is built by its users. That's what makes Hurricane the absolutely best scripting program available.

As for Bill paying me...you got me! I must admit, Bill paid me to buy my first license! In fact, there was most likely a pretty high profit margin within the first hour of purchasing Hurricane! But you see, Bill has been "paying" ALL of the users. If he didn't, there wouldn't be any! That's the whole roll of a software developer... "If you built it, they will come". Do you know anyone who would approach buying a software package with hopes of at least breaking even?

Since Hurricane was implemented in our office, our whole office has become more efficient. We all know that efficiency comes in especially handy in a questionable economy. So what does that mean? The Steel Details GET DONE! And beyond that the Revisions GET DONE! And even better the product is delivered on time!

Hey...Thanks Bill!

Hi Miksteele,

I've thought about this quite a bit... because the interface is already packed to the brim , I've tried to come up with something a little different.

The file attached has a couple of changes. Firstly, when you load a "FileList", the FileList button itself changes to "=FileList=" (the equal signs indicate the list is unaltered). (If you'd rather have * or something different just say so)

If you ADD or REMOVE files, or drag/drop, then the equal signs go away. So you know your list is "good".

I couldn't decide how to show the NAME of the list loaded on the main screen. So, without adding any NEW text entities to the screen, I just added a tooltip to the FileQueue. SO, if you see the =FileList= button, just hold the mouse over the Queue, and the NAME of the list loaded will be indicated, and you will be assured that the list in the Queue is an UNALTERED FileList. If no equal signs on the button, then the tooltip doesn't exist.

I considered what to do with the "Append", as it is for now, you can append FileLists, and only the last FileList appended will be listed. (Actually, I think the opposite would be correct (to NOT show an appended filelist by name, cause it actually doesn't exist... I think I'll change this).

(I could go hog-wild, and and List EACH of the appended FileLists add the equals and tooltip when you SAVE a FileList to disk. (next minor update, I just wanted to get this quickly to you to mull-over))

(I also considered bolding the text in the Queue to indicate that it is a FileList loaded, but it looked a little too dramatic)

Hope this satisfies your need for now! (in a minimal sort of way!)
