What is a .SN file?

A .SN file in your Hurricane folder is a small marker file named after a serial number, for example 1234567.SN. Hurricane creates it when a seat becomes licensed. It is not a drawing and not a program; it is only there so the Hurricane Admin Tool can tell licensed seats from unlicensed ones.

Where it comes from

1. Before licensing: each time Hurricane starts, it writes the seat's serial number to a ######.DMO file. See What is a .DMO file?
2. Licensing: you send us the .DMO file and receive a KEY file. See What is the .KEY file?
3. After licensing: Hurricane stops creating the .DMO file for that serial number, deletes the old one, and creates ######.SN with the same number.

What it is used for

The Hurricane Admin Tool reads the folder it was launched from and sorts the files into two lists:

File	Admin Tool list
######.DMO	UnRegistered Serial Numbers (still in trial mode)
######.SN	Registered Serial Numbers (licensed)

That lets a CAD manager see at a glance how many seats are licensed and which still need a KEY. You will only see several .DMO and .SN files together when Hurricane runs in a network configuration, where every user shares one Hurricane folder.

Does it affect my license?

No. The .DMO and .SN files are used only by the Admin Tool. Your license comes from the KEY file, so that is the file to keep backed up.

Found a .SN file somewhere else? Other programs use the .sn extension for unrelated files. If the file is not in a Hurricane folder, it belongs to some other program and this page does not apply to it.
